This work appeared first on Further Down the Spiral by Nine Inch Nails, a remix album that accompanied the album The Downward Spiral by the same artist. The version on this release consisted of two sections, where section A was a version of the NIN track Mr Self Destruct played backwards and section B was an original composition. In the liner notes, it was stated that section A is "recreated by Nine Inch Nails" and that section B is "created by Aphex twin". Section B was later released separately on the Aphex Twin album 26 Mixes for Cash. As the track is allegedly a remix by Aphex Twin (Richard D. James) of the NIN track Mr Self Destruct, writing credits are consistently attributed to Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails. However, because of its distinctive style and since no original material of any NIN song can be discerned in the 2nd section, it is widely suspected that section B is an original work by Richard D. James.
