Rotten Flowers, Shiny Shoes

"ROTTEN FLOWERS, SHINY SHOES" is the debut EP by the duo SOLAND ANGEL.
It features open compositions for synthesizers, self-built instruments, voice, piano, and drum machines.
They draw inspiration from classical composers such as Julius Eastman, Wendy Carlos, and Olivier Messiaen, as well as contemporary artists like Mica Levi, Keith Fullerton Whitman, and Rosalía. The seven tracks were produced and recorded by the duo across various locations, including residencies in Paris, Barcelona, and their hometown Basel.
Many of these compositions were originally created for exhibition spaces and were adapted to suit the acoustics and setting of each new location. This openness in form allowed the pieces to evolve, taking on a new shape with every performance.
The tracks on "ROTTEN FLOWERS, SHINY SHOES" emerged from improvisations and sonic experiments, later refined into structured compositions that guide the listener through a sonic fever dream.
